Valery Lantratov helps a student with her technique

On Friday, February 24^th, professional Russian ballet dancer, Valery Lantratov, will visit Golden Steps Studio during his tour across the country. He will teach two master classes that evening: Beginning Ballet from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. followed by Intermediate Ballet from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. The fee for each master class is $30 per student with payment due prior to February 24^th.

This is an excellent learning opportunity for our students, and we highly encourage participation. Space is limited due to Mr. Lantratov’s request, so please register early to reserve a space in the appropriate class. Attire for his classes include a black leotard, black dance shorts, tan tights, ballet or jazz shoes and long hair pulled back in a braid or bun.

Valery Lantratov

Valery Lantratov has had a distinguished career as a dancer in the companies of Vladimir Vasiliev, Maya Plitsetskaya and Ekaterina Maximova and international tours with Rudolf Nureyev.   Most recently he has made international headlines for his role as Czar Nicholas II in a production of the new ballet Rasputin, with Farouk Ruzimatov of the Marinsky Theater (Kirov) and for successful international tours of Don Quixote and original choreography for the annual festival for the goddess Aphrodite in Cypruss.

A graduate of the Moscow Academic Choreographic College, Lantratov was selected as a first soloist with the Moscow Stanislavski Ballet.    With the theater he danced principal roles in such ballets as Don Quixote, Copellia and Romeo and Juliet.  He has received accolades in the Russian and international press for his strong technique, personality and expressiveness.

In 1993, Lantratov began working for the Kremlin Ballet.  This same year, he formed the Russian National Ballet Foundation.  He has toured as a solo guest artist in such countries as Japan, Germany, Italy, Greece, France, Portugal, Spain and the United States.  The Russian National Ballet Foundation has toured in Europe, Asia, The Middle East and the United States.

In 1997, Russian president Boris Yeltsin named Valery Lantratov “ People’s Artist of Russia,” the Russian Federation’s highest artistic honor.  Mr. Lantratov holds a teaching certificate Russia’s renowned National Academy of Theatrical Arts- GITIS.*  For three years, Mr. Lantratov served as a guest instructor at the Boston Ballet.

With his Russian National Ballet Foundation, Lantratov is able to realize his goal of introducing new audiences throughout the world to some of the finest classical works of Russia.  “No matter what might happen between the countries in the world, dance can deliver peace, compassion and art—eternal values.”

*GITIS’ ballet department was founded in 1946 under A. Gorsky, R. Zakharov and Leonid Lavaovsky of the Bolshoi Ballet with equal state funding to the Bolshoi. It is the only institute in Russia to offer a diploma in choreography and direction for ballet theatre.  Its distinguished ballet masters include Vladimir Vassiliev (director of the Bolshoi, retired), Nadja Pavlova (prima ballerina absoluta of the Bolshoi, retired) and Katirina Maximova (prima ballerina absoluta of the Bolshoi, retired).

The Russian National Ballet Foundation as founded in 1993 in Moscow as a charitable organization with the purpose of promoting the traditional art of the Russian classical ballet and providing aesthetic education.

Its creation was supported by such prominent Russian organizations as the Moscow Actors’ Charitable Foundation under the guidance of Galina Ulanova and the Stanislavsky and Nemorovich-Danchenko Moscow Musical Theater.  Educational outreach is part of its mission.  This is the purpose of our teaching tour with director Valery Lantratov.

Power Hour Fitness Coach, Cindy

Join us for our newest class called Power Hour Fitness! Class is held Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 6 a.m. and Tuesday, Thursday at 9 a.m. 

What is Power Hour Fitness?

This high energy fitness class combines cardio, agility, yoga, weights, resistance training, and core strengthening exercises in a stealth fashion to where all trainees are amazed at their accomplishments and fully energized at the end of the workout. Unique combinations of individual and paired exercises evolve into a fun exercise experience that provides the right mix of activities and challenges that make the time in the class fly by, leading to positive results in just 60 powerful minutes.

Our class meets daily, but there is nothing routine about what we will do! The only thing that will be the same each day is the feeling of motivation you’ll have when you leave.

You’ll learn to love morning workouts – even if you’re not a morning person!

Meet the Coach

We are proud to introduce Cindy Cox as the Golden Steps Fitness Coach. Coach Cindy is excited to bring Power Hour Fitness to Golden Steps and we are equally excited to have her join our team! Here’s some information about Coach Cindy:

Cindy Cox received her BS degree in Exercise and Sport Sciences from the University of Florida. She has more than a decade of coaching experience at the high school and collegiate levels in Florida and Indiana. Over the past two years she championed small group as well as individual personal training for specific participant needs. Her experience includes setting and accomplishing personal goals for trainees completing a wide range of running and fitness competition challenges, from preparing individuals for obstacle courses to half-marathons. Given her own successes as a collegiate basketball player and continued competitive nature in completing a full marathon, several half-marathons, and numerous 5K’s, Cindy is the perfect motivator for persons of all levels of fitness. Cindy provides a versatile workout plan that never gets to be routine. Cindy lives in West Lafayette with her husband, Robert, and two year old son, Nash.
